Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) serves 26 public water agencies, delivering supplies to 19 million people in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernadino, San Diego and Ventura counties. MWD is the largest single contractor of the State Water Project and a major supporter of Southern California water conservation and water recycling, protecting the region and providing affordable, high-quality water in an environmentally responsible way.

MWD needed fiber connectivity in remote locations including water treatment centers and water distribution facilities located on mountain tops and in the desert. Since every location undergoes continuous monitoring and testing, these remote sites needed to be connected to MWD’s network to ensure water quality and optimal operation.
