About Marcus Communications
For over 50 years, Marcus Communications has been Southern New England’s mission-critical public safety communications leader. Providing communication support for public safety, businesses, industrial operations, and sporting events, Marcus Communications has been honored by the Federal Bureau of Investigations for 50 years of excellence in public safety service and support.

Reliable, cost-effective fiber backup from a trustworthy provider could ensure communications were consistently available to users across the state, especially during emergencies or inclement weather.
The Challenge
Communications Network Redundancy
Marcus Communications has a state-wide UHF wide- area communications system that ensures medical transportation, business and industrial workers, public works departments, and even school buses can stay in contact anywhere in Connecticut. Offering push-to-talk radio and GPS tracking on their proprietary network, Marcus Communications was looking for a reliable fiber- based redundancy solution and found itself struggling with sub-par services from other providers.

The Solution
Frontier’s Enterprise-Wide Local Area Network (ELAN)
As a long-time IP-telephony and internet customer, Marcus Communications looked to Frontier for a fiber backup solution for their microwave network based on pricing and availability of fiber close to their sites. Originally, the business called to see if it was possible to upgrade a single copper DSL connection at a particular site. However, they learned about Frontier’s fiber ELAN solution with a fully-meshed topography. Today, Marcus operates over a dozen communication towers that are all interconnected and communicating over a single private, fully meshed Fiber ELAN network by Frontier. Way to transport data across their network, ensuring they can continue to closely monitor availability and operations of their community-critical network. It also extended the life of the microwave network, making fiber more cost-effective than refreshing microwave connections all at once.
Because Frontier helps them do more with less, Marcus is now looking to expand its customer base into Rhode Island, Western Massachusetts, and New York state

“My expectations were high and Frontier delivered.”

Bruce Marcus, CTO, Founder & Owner, Marcus Communications

The Result
Reliable Fiber Redundancy
Adding to Marcus Communications’ extensive redundancy infrastructure, Frontier gives the Marcus team peace of mind that their network is supported, especially in harsh Connecticut winters. Frontier ensures Marcus Communications has more than one
